    On 4 April 1905 at 00:49 UTC, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck India (Kangra), at a depth of 20 km. It occurred on the Eurasian Plate, 126 km from its boundary with the Indian Plate (continental collision). It killed at least 19,000 people. 100,000 homes were destroyed. It is the 24th deadliest of the earthquakes recorded since 1900.
