On 13 April 1906 at 19:18 UTC, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Taiwan (Jiayi). It occurred on the Yangtze Plate, 23 km from its boundary with the Philippine Sea Plate (continental collision). It killed at least 15 people and injured 84. 1,794 homes were destroyed.
