On 20 April 1935 at 22:01 UTC, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Taiwan (Mialoi). It occurred on the Philippine Sea Plate, 43 km from its boundary with the Yangtze Plate (continental collision). It killed at least 3,276 people and injured 12,053. 17,907 homes were destroyed. It is the 70th deadliest of the earthquakes recorded since 1900.
