Stratovolcano
A stratovolcano is a steep-sided cone built up by layers of lava flows and ash. Its lava is often thick and gas-rich, which makes its eruptions explosive.
They are the typical volcanoes of subduction zones, like Mount Fuji, Vesuvius or Mount St. Helens. They cause most deadly eruptions, through pyroclastic flows and lahars.
